2. Provide mollies with lots of greenery, that will make them enjoy having places to hide, especially if they are giving birth. Use live plants or plastic. The living plants that they like most are Anubias, Sagitaria and Vallisneria. They will sting and feed. Add decorations such as fish tank volcano and figurines to get a visual interest in the aquarium with landscapes and put places for your fish to hide.

3. Feed the mollies with herbal flakes. Mollies can also eat various insects, pickled shrimp or Tubifex. Make sure your diet is based on plants or algae. Feed them once a day and no more than they can eat in five minutes. Overfeeding leads to more waste in the fish tank. Thaw the food first.

4. Change the water in the tank regularly. Remove 10 to 25 percent of the water from the fish tank once every two to four weeks and replace it with clean water. First treat clean water with chlorine remover to make it safe for mollies. Water changes keep levels of waste and nitrate low to avoid disease. Use kits that you can find at most pet stores to analyze water quality every week.

5. Maintain the water temperature from 68 to 82 degrees Fahrenheit (20 to 28 degrees Celsius). Any higher or lower temperature will stress the fish. Some types of water heaters can be found to put them in the aquariums. Check the temperature of the water with a thermometer inside the fish tank. When you change the water make sure that the new water is almost at the temperature of the rest of the water in the tank.

6 . Provide the mollies of the right habitat in case you plan to mate them. Mollies live with other fish, which means they give birth to care for the young instead of laying eggs. Healthy mollies will breed frequently and produce many offspring. In breeding ponds include plants of vegetation,a fish incubator or a thicker mesh of seaweed for the young to hide. Mollies will produce from 10 to 60 offspring every 60 to 70 days. The mollies' offspring will grow about 1/2 inch (12 mm) long. If the fish in the fish tank are not properly fed adults will eat the young. Divide the aquarium with an aquarium plastic separator, if you wish, to separate the adults from the young.
